The disease, once caught, plays with the folds of your mind. You lose some control over your powers, you forget many beloveds. Some are crippled by this, and choose to travel alone, where they are unable to harm any close to their heart. Others are turned malicious as the disease sweeps through their concsciousness, it muddles their brain. They choose to follow the cured, and as a form of revenge spread the disease among those not in contact with it.
The wicked and devilish ways of the infected can even spread as far as cannibalism, in the worst of cases. They completely lose control over any emotions, and turn against any and every equine.
The disease prolongs the average lifespan, though, and creates glorious powers, enabling one to bend certain elements.
